WHO WE ARE
MISSION AND HISTORY
Our Mission is to provide healthy and nutritious solutions to the food insecure in Bermuda with the aim of enhancing their quality of life.
We are a registered charity (#567), which was founded in 2002 by Margaret Vaucrosson and Tony Forrester with a focus on meeting the needs of Bermuda's homeless population. The principal aim of the society was to provide those in need with "A hand up, not a hand-out."
In 2010, the organizations focus shifted from only feeding the homeless, to providing support to any person in Bermuda that was food insecure. We recognize that food insecurity has both physical and emotional impact on those affected by it, and are continuously looking for ways to better serve our clients and help reduce the stress they are experiencing.
The Eliza DoLittle Society provides assistance directly to clients through our Food Bank in Warwick, the HSBC sponsored Adopt a Senior programme and the new ARGO Student Lunch Programme.
In 2019, we provided the local community with just under 46,000 meals through our Food Bank alone and process an average of 30 new registrations each month!
The goal of all charities is basically the same, we want to make our communities a better place by addressing issues that exist, and providing support for those in need.
At TEDS we believe that whenever possible we should provide support to, and collaborate with, our local charitable partners. Finding synergies and maximizing our efforts allows us to become more efficient organizations, while having greater impact on those that need our assistance.
